The British Library (www.imagesonline.bl.uk)

The British Library’s Images Online e-commerce website showcases stunning content from the unique archives of the UK’s national library.

The system developed by Capture Ltd, comprises a fully-featured web-based back-office system that integrates seamlessly with the front-end, streamlining workflows, and saving time and money for staff managing the picture library.

The British Library also used Capture’s Managed Collections services to help add a wealth of new images to the Images Online site, all catalogued and keyworded using Capture’s state-of-the-art hierarchical keywording system.

Patrick Fleming, British Library Associate Director, said: “It is a brilliant feeling seeing the quality and functionality of the site. Everyone involved deserves the highest credit.

Capture is a brilliant company at the forefront of the online picture library world. They have proved to be a first class partner and we look forward to seeing our Images Online site continue to grow and prosper as we add more content and exploit the site’s tremendous functionality.

Cultura is a highly-professional image production company specialising in European Royalty Free content from an elite team of award-winning photographers and leading art directors, led by former Vice President of Getty Images, Anthony Harris. Servicing the team of photographers is of paramount importance, and Cultura has required some complex finance functionality to deal with the nuances of managing royalties, while at the same time encouraging a continual flow of outstanding work. The project is in Phase 1, with the back-office deployment carried out – and the Phase 2 front-end will follow over the summer.

Said Cultura Finance Director, David Bloom: “The photographers love the part of Capture where they can log in and see details of their accounts. We are very pleased with the royalty engine, and delighted that – despite some complex requirements – the Capture team got us live with the back-office system absolutely on time. Capture is very definitely critical to our long-term growth plans.”

Juice Images

Juice is a high-end, royalty free image production company making a big splash in the industry. Their team started shooting in worldwide locations during 2006 and went live with Capture Web last December.

Ian Lishman, Juice Managing Director, said : “The Capture team understand exactly what we want and have given us an excellent workflow. We have big goals and need a very rapid workflow to achieve them; from image creation to delivering ready-to-roll images-plus-metadata to our global agent network, speed is critical. With Capture we can upload in any configuration, at any time; the system integrates with third party keywording companies allowing us to outsource to the best supplier, whilst the images are keyworded, categorised and published in one fast, super-convenient hit; then, the agent download facility allows fast, easy and efficient distribution without the need to traffic hard drives. Capture is also a great showcase for our images and we are just about to launch direct sales via e-commerce which will give us total control of the entire cycle. The system is everything we need it to be and allowed us to concentrate on what we do best – shooting a constant stream of fresh, relevant and truly creative images that are shining on our agents’ sites and already generating sales far in excess of our expectations.”
